Paintings On Display at Port Columbus

COLUMBUS—The work of Columbus artist Amandda Tirey Graham is now on display in the Port Columbus Gateway to The Arts, an exhibit space located on the ticketing level in the hallway behind Cup O’ Joe.

Port Columbus Gateway to The Arts is a collaboration between the Columbus Regional Airport Authority and the Ohio Art League, which is a non-profit visual arts organization that coordinates the rotating exhibits on a quarterly basis.

“My paintings, which I like to call ‘Liquidscapes,’ are a representation of how I respond to both internal and external stimuli,” explained Graham. “My goal is to taunt, entice and capture the viewer, hoping that someone will step away with heightened energy, deeper thoughts and an overwhelming itch to create and contemplate.”

Graham has exhibited in numerous solo and group shows dating back to1995 and is very active in the Columbus arts community. Besides making art, she loves to curate shows for other artists and event plan for large non profit art fundraising. Graham was one of the founding members of the Studio16 Co-Op Gallery and became Assistant Director & Chief Curator in 2005. She currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the Ohio Art League and has been an active member for over 13 years. She is also a member of the newly formed German Village Art League, and a former board member of the ROYGBIV Gallery, in which she is still active .

“As the city’s gateway it’s important that Port Columbus provide opportunities for travelers to experience artwork created by the many extremely talented artists in our community,” explained Elaine Roberts, President & CEO of the Columbus Regional Airport Authority. “Our partnership with the Ohio Art League and their member artists, including Amandda, helps to educate travelers about the creative talent in our community.”

In addition to Port Columbus Gateway to The Arts, the airport also offers rotating and permanent art pieces created by artists ranging from local elementary students to the internationally-recognized Roy Lichtenstein. Standing 26-feet tall at the entranceway to Concourse B, “Brushstrokes in Flight” is a dynamic sculpture by the late Lichtenstein, an alumnus of The Ohio State University.
