2010 Kicks Off With Promising Activity Levels at Port Columbus, Rickenbacker
COLUMBUS – The first month of 2010 activity levels at Port Columbus International Airport and Rickenbacker International Airport proved to be promising with signs of increasing activity levels. In January Port Columbus experienced a 4.8 percent increase in passengers compared to the same month in 2009. A total of 449,827 passengers traveled through the airport in January compared to 429,225 in January 2009. At Rickenbacker International Airport 11.8 million pounds of cargo moved through the airport in January, which is an 8 percent decrease over 2009 numbers. “After a difficult 2009 , it’s promising to see that over 20,000 more passengers traveled through Port Columbus in January compared to same time period in 2009,” said David Whitaker, Vice President of Business Development & Communications. “The Rickenbacker cargo figures, while down as compared to last year, also demonstrate some stabilization within the industry.” Port Columbus provides 145 daily departures to 32 airports. The 10 air carriers at Port Columbus include Air Canada Jazz, AirTran, American, Continental, Delta, Midwest Connect, Southwest, United, US Airways and seasonal service by USA3000.
