Abundant Power Sources Will Soon Be Available at Port Columbus
COLUMBUS – Tired of searching for a power outlet or searching for a chair when you do find one? Travelers will soon have a much better option at Port Columbus International Airport. Table-mounted power units will be installed at Port Columbus to give travelers access to over 400 power outlets and 400 USB ports. Manufactured by Arconas, inPower™ flex units will be mounted to existing airport seating units so travelers can recharge personal electronic devices via traditional power cords or USB cables from comfortable seated positions in the ticketing, baggage claim and gate areas of the airport. These units are GFI protected against short circuits and shields passenger’s electronic equipment from surges. “Whether it’s a cell phone, PDA, laptop, iPod or gaming system, passengers want to be able to use and recharge their electronic devices that allow them to pass the time as they’re waiting to catch their next flight,” explained Robin Holderman, Vice President of Real Estate. “This innovative solution provides a safe, convenient and reliable power source for our travelers.” Sponsored by the food and retail concessionaires at Port Columbus, the power units will be mounted underneath the tabletops beginning in April. By placing hundreds of units throughout the airport, travelers can stroll freely confident there will be a power outlet available for use. These power sources will be available free of charge for the passengers similar to the free WiFi service that has been available at Port Columbus since 2003.
